Creating a Unique Style of Beauty from the Inside Out

Do you ever find yourself struggling with your reflection in the mirror? Is the person in the mirror all you would like her to be? Do you ever wish that overnight she could be transformed into the person you’ve always dreamed about? How would life be different after the change?

I want to share some of my personal journey with you. I’d like to be transparent and honest with you for a few minutes. Often, I have found myself staring in a mirror and reflecting on who I am. I find myself struggling with the image staring back at me. I desperately want to change what I see, but a little voice in my heart and mind says, “why”? Sometimes the answer is because I’m not good enough, I’m not tall enough, I can’t speak or write well enough, I’m to fat, I don’t know enough, and I don’t love and appreciate myself. Have you ever felt this way? Have you ever been overwhelmed by emotion and fear? Have you ever been so lost inside yourself that you felt like you’d never find a way out?

Well, I have and it’s a very lonely and dark place, but I have found hope through my personal relationship with Jesus. Several years ago I made some major changes in my life. The first was quitting my full time job so that I could be more available to my daughters. Then came the loss of some close family members, starting my business, my husband loosing his job, and our daughter, Andrea, graduating from high school and starting college. My husband getting rehired by his former employer which is wonderful and my part time job with Kohl’s as a beauty adviser. This year my daughter Jenna has completed middle school and will begin high school in the fall.

As you can imagine, I have changed physically during all of this and I’ve developed some health issues as well! But, again, God has been faithful to walk with us through every step. The latest crisis was surgery this spring to remove some kidney stones. This grabbed my attention and I knew it was time to make some BIG changes in taking care of myself! I took these steps:

  • I began exercising 3-5 days every week.
  • I started drinking up to 70 ounces of water every day.
  • I am working on sleeping 6-7 hours every night (I haven’t mastered this yet!)
  • I am working on developing better eating habits and focusing on a goal to loose 40 lbs by December. I’ve reached the 25 lb mark!!

The most important and pivotal change has been my walk with God. This area of my life has blossomed and grown in countless ways. I have literally experienced healing and restoration from the inside out.

The results have been so encouraging that I’d like to share a before and after picture with you. I’m sharing this not to brag, but to give God all the glory for his work in my life and to encourage you. If you are struggling with the image in the mirror and you desire a change, I know God will help you find a way. I’m still a BIG work in progress, but I’m so excited to see what else God has planned for his life purpose within me! If I can help you on your journey I’d love to do that with you.

Spring is in the air! Learn the NEW SPRING FASHION TRENDS!!!

I LOVE to share new trends each season. I love the fun new looks for this Spring! There SEVEN to share with you.

1. This is a “girly denim jacket.”  This style can be worn in many different ways. You can put it with a dress, skirt, dress slacks, or jeans. You can wear it with a graphic tee, as a top with a cami, or add a floral neckerchief to dress it up. I would love to wear this look with a blouse that hangs below the waist and a pair of leggings. So cute and easy to wear. You can find this jacket at MarieDesignMD.

2. The Coach Jacket maybe my new favorite for Spring. I think the style is fun. You can find these in almost all of the colors for spring. My favorite color this season is pink. Here is an example of the jacket.  You can find this one at https://www.apparelnbags.com

3. The last jacket style that I like is the Trench coat. This is a classic that has been around FOREVER. There are many updated versions of this coat, but I like the classic look the best. The trend is to wear this coat like a suit jacket with dress slacks and heels, leggings and boots, or jeans and flats. It can be worn casually or as a dressy business outfit. http://www.keoneulaes.org

4. Graphic Tees are BIG again this Spring. They can be a fun way to express your favorite quote, band, place to live or your favorite cartoon character. They can be as simple as a smiley face. I love that these can be worn by kids, teens, and adults! I really like this one.

5. We can’t leave out accessories for this season. I love the floral trend in purses, backpacks, scarves, tops, leggings, dresses, and skirts. The patterns are bold and bright, soft and classic, and large and small patterned. I love this example of a fun cross body bag with a pretty floral pattern and detailing. You can find this style on http://www.kohls.com/handbags

6. The platform sandal is back again this Spring. I will have to learn to like this style. Call me old fashioned, but I still like a classic sandal or pump for a casual or professional look. This style I found on Pinterest.

7. One of my favorite accessories has always been a scarf. A scarf can bring together an entire outfit and add a pop of color near your face. They come in all sizes, but the popular one for this Spring is a neckerchief. Think Mary Tyler Moore and the ’70’s. Here is an example that can be found at http://www.allexpress.com

5 Easy Steps to create a Wardrobe Capsule!

My Best Wardrobe Capsule in 5 Easy Steps!

Hi ladies! I am so excited to help you create your first Wardrobe Capsule! Some of you maybe familiar with this new buzz word, but really it’s something that many women have been doing for years! It’s called mixing and matching clothing in your closet! I’m going to share 5 easy steps to design your personalized wardrobe for the fall and winter season. I’m also going to share a link to a brand new wardrobe capsule online academy called 27 Hangers!

1. Remove from your closet all of the clothing from the past season. Since most of us have finished Spring and Summer, we will store away these clothes in totes or hang them in another closet. This includes your accessories as well. Now you ready to work with your Fall and Winter wardrobe.

2. Try on all the remaining pieces in your closet. Check each item for fit,  style, the quality and appearance. For example, Do you have tops that are pilled or faded from washing?

Find several totes and label them: Donate, Consign, To big/To small, Trash. As you try on your clothes sort through them and eliminate all of the unwanted pieces. When you’ve finished this process you should have these items remaining ; Tops, Bottoms, Dresses, and Outwear pieces.

3. Find 27 pieces to build your capsule! This is where the FUN begins. Hopefully you will have 7 bottom pieces (pants, skirts, and jeans) 14 tops (patterns and solids) 3 dresses and 3 outwear pieces. Ladies, keep in mind that these clothes are pieces that you will wear during the majority of your day.

Ladies, I am excited to share  https://fashionmeetsfaith.mykajabi.com/a/2031/mFVcgvhS27-hangers-logo_color with you, where you’ll have the opportunity to go through the process of building your wardrobe capsule with my friend and mentor Shari Braendel. She will show you a live closet edit and walk you through the process using 8 self-paced modules and a work sheet to guide you in determining what you need to shop for to complete your closet.

4. Choose a “POP” color that is complimentary to your skin tone, eye color, and hair color. This color is based on your dominant color characteristics. My dominant color characteristic is a SOFT. This means that I wear colors that are medium in intensity. I have chosen brown as my best neutral, yellow and teal as my pop colors. If you want more information about determining your colors go to my contact page to schedule a virtual appointment to learn your designer colors at http://www.lynnaebussell.com/contact dominant-soft

5. Choose one purse and several other accessories to complete your wardrobe. The best purse color is to match it to your hair color. You’ll always look complete from head to foot!

Are you excited to get started! Let’s start with removing all of your clothes from last season, try on everything that’s left, check it for quality, style, and fit, find 27 pieces to build your capsule, choose your “pop” color, one purse and other accessories to complete your look. Check out the online Wardrobe Capsule academy at 27 Hangers. Contact me for your virtual appointment to determine your designer colors.
